Common Windows Problems. and their solutions:

Listed below are some of the common problems. that we find in Windows and their solutions. These are some simple issues that crop up in our day to day life which can be resolved very easily. The commonly occurring problems. and their possible solutions are detailed in this below

Problem 1: I cannot see the hidden files or hidden folders in my computer. As a solution to this, I enable the option "Show hidden files and folders" in the Tools >> Folder options. However, this is automatically disabled again.

Solution: Open regedit. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

In the right side pane, change the value of "Hidden" to:

1 - If you want the hidden files to be shown.

2 - If you do not want the hidden files to be shown

If this does not work, then scan the computer for virus with anti-virus software.

Problem 2: The task manager of My Windows is disabled.

Solution: Use the Group Policy Editor for Windows to get this enabled. For this, click

Start>>Run. Type gpedit.Ms.c and click OK. Navigate to the branch. User Configuration / Administrative Templates/System/Ctrl+Alt+Delete options/Remove Task Manager

Double click the Remove Task Manager option.

Set the policy to "Not Configured"

Problem 3: Whenever I start my computer, My Documents/My Computer opens automatically at windows startup.

Solution: Open regedit and goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In right-side pane, change value of "Userinit" to:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

NOTE: If you have windows installed in other drives, then change C:\ to that drive label.

Now go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Advanced

In right-side pane, change value of "PersistBrowsers" to 0

Now log off windows and it should solve the problem.

Problem 4: Whenever I open a folder, another folder with the same name is created under it.
