Hide Any Hard Disk Drive Completely

If you have important documents ;-) and you are afraid about its privacy then do not be worried because windows XP provides (not officially) a utility by which u can hide your PC's one or more drives.

  1. Go to Start > run > type diskpart.
    A dos window will appear with following.
    DISKPART>
  2. Then type list volume
    This will look like it
    Volume### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info etc in a row and details beneath.
    Volume 0 F DC-ROM
    Volume 1 C NTFS Partition 7000MB Healthy
    Volume 2 D soft NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
    Volume 3 E ---- NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
  3. If u wanna hide drive E then type select volume 3 and hit enter.
    Then a message will appear in same winwods {Volume 3 is the selected volume}
  4. Now type remove letter E
    A message will come {Diskpart Removed the Drive letter}
    Sometime it requires the reboot the computer. And your E drive is vanished from sight.

Diskpart will remove the letter. Windows XP is not having capabilty to identify the unkown volume.

Now Do not be afraid. Your data will ramain safe.
To revert changes, repeat the process . but in 4th step replace "remove" with "assign"
I mean type "assign letter E"

Your drive will reappear again.

Hard Disk Drives Problem – Auto Play Instead Of Open – Easy Solution

If u right click at any of your disk drives, at the top option it appear Auto play. You can change the Autoplay to open by following these steps:

  1. Double click on My computer on Desktop,
    Choose Tool and select “Folder options
    Click on “View” tab select “Show Hidden files and folders” and uncheck "Hide Extension...."
    And “Hide protected operating system file” (these selections are important to find the files you need to delete)
    Click "OK"
  2. Open Windows Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del) and select the “Processes” tab
    Click on "name" to sort File
    Find “wscript.exe” and click on “End Process” (if there is more than one process with that name you have to end all of them)
    Close the “Task Manager”
  3. Then you will click on Start and select “Search” and search for “autorun.inf” (Search the computer).
    you will then delete all the files that contain the text MS32DLL.dll.vbs (the virus) by pressing:
    SHIFT + DELETE. (There of course should not be Autorun.inf in the C root).
  4. You will also delete the virus from the system (C:WINDOWS MS32DLL.dll.vbs) by pressing:
    SHIFT + DELETE
  5. Next step is to edit the Registry (Like always you have to be very careful for the registry tools. Take backup first. Some mistake there can crash your PC's operating system).
  6. First, click on “Start” and select “Run” and type in “Regedit” and press “Enter”.
    Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software -->Microsoft -->Windows --> Current Version --> Run.
    Find there “MS32DLL” and delete that entry.
  7. Then select HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Main.
    There you find “Window Title "Hacked by Godzilla" and you should delete that entry.
    You can close the registry editor now.
  8. Next you will click on Start --> Run and type in "gpedit.msc" and press “Enter”.
    It will open “Group Policy Editor”.
    There you will select User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System --> and there you will double click on “Turn Off Auto play
  9. in the window there you should select “Enabled” and select “All drives”.
  10. Next you will click on Start --> Run and type “msconfig” and press “Enter”.
    It will open “System Configuration Utility”.
    Click on “Startup” tab
    Find the file MS32DLL, choose Enable All, then uncheck "MS32DLL"
    Click Apply then OK to close.
  11. Exit the “System Configuration Utility” and select “Exit without Restart” when prompt.
  12. After this you double click on My Computer and select “Tools” and “Folder Options” and “View” tab to change these back.
    Select "Hide Extension..." and “Hide protected operating system files” and “Don’t show hidden files and folders”.
  13. Empty the “Recycle bin” and “Restart” your computer.

Boost Your Internet Speed By GPEdit

Windows uses 20% of your internet bandwidth by default! Microsoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (for updates and interrogating your machine etc..). Here's how to get it back.

Click Start-->Run-->and type gpedit.msc. Hit enter.
This opens the group policy editor.
Then go to:
Local Computer Policy -->Computer Configuration -->Administrative Templates -->Network -->QOS Packet Scheduler -->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab:

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, and then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%. Works on XP Pro and 2000. Enjoy your full speed internet connection.

Change Your Dynamic IP Address

Following is supposed to change your dynamic IP Address. Open notepad and type:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /refresh
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /all>newip.txt
end

then save as (select all file types) --- ip.bat

this is now a batch file rather than a txt file. Simply hit run on the file and watch the progress.

If you want to print out the results then add this line into the same file befog "END"

ipconfig /all>filename. Txt

A report will be saved in the same directory as your batch file, detailing your new ip and a bit more...
